With the help of the Bright Futures scholarship, Windsor High School graduate Kira McOuat accomplished a big feat.
“I was able to graduate nursing school debt-free, which is almost unheard of.” McOuat said.
McOuat began her college studies in Arizona and after two years transferred to Aims Community College to finish her nursing degree. Bright Futures scholars may use their funds to attend a school in Colorado or at any of the seven bordering states.
“I don’t think a lot of people know how easy it is to get,” McOuat said of the Bright Futures scholarship. “It was a blessing to have it.”
McOuat got a job after graduating at UC Health in the medical surging nursing unit.
“It’s nice to be serving in my own community,” McOuat said.
