The mission of Bright Futures is to strengthen the vitality of the Weld County community through its workforce. By nurturing and supporting our younger generation, we are building a strong foundation for a stable economy. To enable and develop the associated Bright Futures mentoring program that will seek to create an environment of success for participants, the board unanimously voted to limit the region the stipend may be used to include only schools/institutions within Colorado and its bordering states that Bright Futures has or will have a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with. This process will allow employers and institutions the ability to participate and partner on developing opportunities that will strengthen the Weld County workforce.
Beginning in Fall of 2018, all new students of the program must attend Title IV institutions within Colorado and its surrounding states which includes Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming.
Changes will take effect for 2016-2017 graduates in August of 2019 to give time to students that are currently in programs outside of this area the opportunity to finish certifications or degrees and prepare for the change.
