HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR CHECKLIST

  • Live in Weld County for two of the student’s high school years with one being their senior year.
  • Create an online account at www.brightfuturesco.com.
  • Complete the online application.
  • Watch or read the mandatory meeting and acknowledge your attendance in Programs.
  • Upload the Student Aid Report (SAR) portion of your verified FAFSA/CASFA to Programs, selecting ‘student aid report’ as the document type and entering the school year for which you are applying to receive the grant.
  • Complete 12 hours of community service by the May 15th deadline and upload your completed community service log to Programs.
  • Enter your chosen college in ‘My Colleges’–check the enrolled box, enter your college ID #, and select the appropriate semester and school year.

COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN YOUR BRIGHT FUTURES AWARD

  • Stay Enrolled at a higher education institute or training program in the Bright Futures-approved geographic region. You must notify the Bright Futures office if you transfer to another school.
  • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and upload your yearly transcripts.
  • Upload the Student Aid Report (SAR) portion of your verified FAFSA/CASFA to Programs, selecting ‘student aid report’ as the document type and entering the school year for which you are applying to receive the grant.
  • Complete 12 hours of community service.
  • Students are eligible for a Bright Futures award up to six years post-graduation from high school.

Geographic Region

All Bright Futures grant recipients must attend Title IV institutions within Colorado and its surrounding states which includes Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming.
