HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR CHECKLIST

  • Live in Weld County junior and senior year.
  • Create an online account at www.brightfuturesco.com.
  • Complete the online application.
  • Watch or read the mandatory meeting and acknowledge your attendance in Programs.
  • Upload the Student Aid Report (SAR) portion of your verified FAFSA/CASFA to Programs, selecting ‘student aid report’ as the document type and entering the school year for which you are applying to receive the grant.
  • Complete 16 hours of community service in Weld County between May 16th, 2022 – May 14th, 2023, and upload your completed community service log to Programs.
  • Enter your chosen college in ‘My Colleges’–check the enrolled box, enter your college ID #, and select the appropriate semester and school year.

COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN YOUR SCHOLARSHIP

  • Weld County resident for two of the student’s high school years with one begin their senior year.
  • Stay Enrolled at your higher education institute or training program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and upload your yearly transcripts.
  • Upload the EFC page of FAFSA/CASFA.
  • Do 16 hours of community service for Weld County.
  • The grant must be started within 2 years of GED or graduation and completed within 6 years.

Geographic Region

All Bright Futures grant recipients must attend Title IV institutions within Colorado and its surrounding states which includes Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming.
