Bright Futures offers up to $14,000 to help you earn a degree or certification so you can get a job doing what you want to do.
No academic requirements to apply the first year.
No income requirements and no loans to pay back. The money is a gift from Bright Futures for living in Weld County.
Home-schooled students, GED earners, and honorably discharged veterans are encouraged to apply.
Use the money toward tuition, fees, books, transportation, and/or a computer for school.
To apply, you must live in Weld County your senior year plus one other year of high school.
Depending on the school you attend, you may receive:
$1,750 per semester/$3,500 per year/$14,000 over eight semesters – Attend a school or program based in Weld County, whether it is a two-year college, a four-year university, or a certificate/training program.
$1,000 per semester/$2,000 per year/$8,000 over eight semesters – Attend a school or program in Colorado outside of Weld County or in any of Colorado’s seven bordering states (Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, or Utah).

Donate to Bright Futures and you may pay no Weld County portion of your property tax! Here’s how it works:
Donate to Bright Futures in any amount to give Weld County students free money for college or career training.
Receive half your donation back in the form of a tax credit up to the amount owed on the Weld County portion of your property taxes.
Donate twice of what you owe for the Weld County portion of your property tax and receive a credit for all of it! That means you’ll pay no county portion of your property tax!
Bright Futures is administered by Weld Legacy Foundation and qualifies as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. You may be able to deduct your donation to Bright Futures if you itemize deductions on your tax returns, too! (Consult your tax advisor to determine the deductibility of your donation.)
