Appeals Process

If you have special circumstances that caused you to miss the application deadline or otherwise disqualified you, Bright Futures has an appeals process that you may follow.

These situations are generally NOT considered to be special circumstances:

  • Forgetting or not knowing the deadline day or time or the annual requirements.
  • Missing the deadline due to technical difficulties you are having on the due date.
  • Starting the FAFSA/CASFA too close to the application deadline and not receiving a final FAFSA Submission Summary or CASFA report with the Student Aid Index by the deadline.
  • Not receiving (and/or reviewing) email communications from Bright Futures. The student portal specifically requests that you add administrator@grantinterface.com to your list of accepted senders to avoid missing emails.

To file an appeal, email Bright Futures at hello@brightfuturesco.com and an appeal form will be assigned to your student portal.

Appeal Deadlines

  • Fall award appeals must be submitted before November 1.
  • Spring award appeals must be submitted before April 1.
  • Summer award appeals must be submitted before June 1.
