Receiving Your Money for School

Bright Futures recipients attending a school or program based in Weld County, whether it is a two-year college, a four-year university, or a certificate/training program, are eligible to receive up to $1,750 per semester ($3,500 for the school year). You may use the money toward tuition, fees, books, transportation, and/or a computer for school.

Bright Futures recipients attending a school or program in Colorado outside of Weld County or in any of the seven bordering states (Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, or Utah) are eligible to receive up to $1,000 per semester ($2,000 for the school year).

Fall semester funds will be sent to your school to be credited to your account between August 15 and October 15. Spring semester funds will be sent to your school to be credited to your account between January 15 and March 15.

You will not receive any funds until you have completed all assigned follow-up requests. To be included in early disbursements, complete assigned follow-up requests by the specified deadline.

You can track both the status of your follow-up requests and installment payments in your Bright Futures account.

We recommend that you establish a payment plan with your financial aid office to avoid any late fees or dropped classes. If your bill has been paid in full when Bright Futures funds arrive, the school will issue you a refund for any Bright Futures eligible expenses according to their policy.

The application will be available in January. Please check back.
