Meet Hogan Searle! Hogan is a Bright Futures Scholar who will soon be graduating from UNC with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science. Initially after graduating from Windsor Charter Academy High School (School District RE-4), Hogan thought he’d pursue a career in Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. However, an impactful 12-hour ‘ride-along’ with a metro fire station helped him change course (and schools) and decide he wants to be a firefighter. After graduation, Hogan plans to attend Fire Academy and hopes to secure a position with a local fire district.
Hogan’s educational path after high school took some unexpected turns, but he’s thankful they led him to a career he is excited about. Receiving a Bright Futures scholarship not only helped with his education but gave him a confidence boost to pursue his dreams and set him up for future success. “The aid I received from Bright Futures helped me pursue my passion for sports and exercise science and stay debt-free in college,” he said.
