With a Bright Futures scholarship, Evelyn Gomez was able to attend a training program at the Academy for Dental Assisting Careers. Obtaining two certifications through the program, Evelyn was recently able to find a job as a dental assistant at Adventure Dental. Working with kids, offering them words of encouragement and helping them feel comfortable at the dentist’s office, is the highlight of Evelyn’s day. “When they feel better by the end of the visit, it is always my favorite part,” Evelyn said.
Evelyn plans to go back to school in the future to become a dental hygienist, but for now, she’s enjoying learning more about the dental field through her employment experience. Bright Futures helped open that door. “Bright Futures really helped me with my certifications by providing me with a scholarship to the training program,” she said.
