Moving to Greeley her freshman year of high school gave Jacquelyn Gonzalez a special opportunity: becoming eligible for Bright Futures.
“My freshman year we moved from Holyoke to Greeley, and I am so glad we did,” Gonzalez said. “Being in Weld County gave me so many more financial opportunities with a big one being Bright Futures.”
After graduating from Greeley Central High School, Gonzalez attended Aims Community College where she earned her associate degree in liberal arts. She then continued into the Radiology Tech Program focusing on X-rays and mammography.
“The Radiology Tech Program is so intense I can’t work as many hours as I used to,” Gonzalez said. “Bright Futures as been amazing to me financially.”
Students who stay in Weld County for school can earn $1,750 per semester through Bright Futures tuition assistance.
“Bright Futures is also such a good support system,” Gonzalez said. “They make sure I stay in touch with my community and it’s just such an amazing overall program.”
Gonzalez said she also used the support of Scholar Relations Officer Andy Yost and attended several events hosted by Bright Futures.
Gonzalez hopes to complete her clinicals in the surrounding area and then work in Weld County after she has completed her programs.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity and being able to receive the help,” Gonzales said. “I look forward to giving it back to my community.”
